The Coronavirus has swept the nation by surprise as it has spread like wildfire. It was something that no one could have ever planned for and it has forced us to adapt quickly and also put some of us in a place of need.
Unfortunately, layoffs and furloughs are continuing to happen so residents and sober livings are faced with a new challenge of securing funding.
Please see below some options that may be able to help you or your residents during this challenging time.
The Paycheck Protection Program – application here
This program helps small businesses to cover their mortgages, paychecks, and utilities. Sober livings can apply to this program to help cover the mortgage if residents are out of work, continue to pay your staff and house managers, and also help cover the utilities to keep your program running.
NARR and your state affiliate of NARR
NARR is updating their guide to living with the COVID-19 crisis as soon as they receive new information. They are also holding weekly calls for the next couple of months to help as much as they can. State affiliates also have resources specific to their state. If you’re in need of funding, reach out to your state affiliate and see what funding or resources they have available for their members.
SAMHSA
SAMHSA is providing funding opportunities to states for up to $2 million per state.
Unemployment Benefits for Residents
If your residents were laid off or furloughed, have them apply for unemployment to help fund them during this time of need.
Payment Plan with your Residents
Karen Ablondi, President of CTARR, mentioned in the monthly NARR call that she’s putting together Payment Plans with her residents. If your residents are unable to pay their fees, build a financial responsibility plan. Have your residents fill out a form of why they can’t pay and what their plan to pay is.
These are just a few options that are available to help. If there are more resources that you know about, please don’t hesitate to reach out and let us know so we can share that with the community.
