With Michael, we mostly focused on how the industry is going to have to adapt to the new normal. He explained that we were in the middle of an epidemic with opioid abuse already and that due to the media coverage of the pandemic we stopped hearing as much about it but it’s still here. He also said there are a lot of people who are in need of treatment or sought it and couldn’t get in due to the pandemic. Those people are going to absolutely need help when everything begins to open up, but it’s the facility’s duty to keep current clients and those who are looking to be admitted safe. He opened up about how being a nonprofit in a climate where you can’t hold fundraisers has been challenging, but they’re not focusing on the money, but the individuals who will need their help when they can begin to take new clients again.
